TYLER THE TEACHER

They spelled his name Mr. Putman

Yeah yeah yeah, I know it's been months since I last posted anything, but I haven't really had anything very exciting to blog about. So I was really trying to spare anyone who actually reads our blog any boring posts. I recently went to Tyler's school though and just happen to bring my camera, so I thought I'd share a few pics of his classroom. He's really done a good job of setting everything up, especially considering they didn't really give him very good chairs or music stands. Tyler and his dad (I helped a little) built a bunch of their own guitar stands so that the kids guitars weren't falling down all over. I think they turned out pretty good.
I wish Tyler would write a post so he could explain exactly how his first year teaching is going. From what he tells me though, it sounds like he's finally starting to get the hang of it. He teaches beginning guitar and general music, and by far he enjoys teaching the guitar classes more. He's brought home some of the kids tests and assignments to grade, and sometimes I'll help him. It's pretty hilarious what the kids write for some of their answers.
I've been looking into getting my alternative route to licensure, which basically means I could start teaching a subject now and then have three years to get my teaching license. I would love to teach P.E. or health since that's my degree but since teachers in those subjects aren't in high demand I would probably have to opt for Biology or another science class. I'll let you know how that goes.

Hooked on Lost

Yes it's been awhile again since I've updated my lame blog and yes I have an extremely lame reason why. Tyler and I got lost in the t.v. show LOST and we haven't been able to function as normal adults because we've been so addicted to the show! It is seriously like t.v. heroin (not that I would now), it's just really addictive. I have already watched the past four seasons in just a couple short weeks, and I'm dying for the fifth season to start. So if you haven't seen the show I don't recommend starting it unless you have no life or you want to have no life.

Summer Update

It's been quite awhile since I've updated, and to be honest it's mostly because of the sheer exhaustion that Tyler and I feel when we finally get home after driving two hours in construction and working at the Post Office all day. Is anyone else tired of all of the construction? I swear that every stretch of road has construction going on right now. Can't they wait to do some of it next year? I've developed terrible road rage because we drive so much, and because Davis County traffic makes you want to rip out your hair, so to help with my little problem I bought some nice classical music to listen to while I drive and it's helped a bit.

Tyler starts teaching in a few weeks, and he's pretty nervous but I know he's going to do a great job. We went "school shopping" at the Factory Stores so that he'll look like a professional teacher and not a student because Tyler has such a little boy look. Maybe I can get him to model his new looks and get a few pics to post.

We've been looking around at houses in the Davis County area, not that we're planning on buying right now, but we just want to see if we can't find any good deals that we can jump on. Everyone says that it's a buyers market but I still think that people need to lower their prices otherwise no one is going to buy them. (At least not us).

I went to the American Idol concert a couple weeks ago with all the girls in Tyler's fam and we had a great time. Maybe I'll post a few of my favorite pics. My favorite performers of the night were: David A. (of course), Brooke, and Michael J.
Tyler seriously considered trying out for American Idol since they were here in Salt Lake the past couple days, but he chickened out at the last minute. Oh well I think he has one more year before he's too old, so maybe next year.

Tyler has been playing lots of shows this Summer for the Army band, The Beatle band, and his own thing which has convinced me that I need a hobby of my own. I wish I could just wake up with a talent of some sort. I guess that's not how it works though, darnit. I guess while I'm wishing, I wish I could also wake up and be fit and lose all my flab. Ty and I haven't lost the first year marriage weight that I thought everyone got, so we've been looking into trying a six week boot camp that we have to pay for, so we HAVE to get our butts up and to the gym otherwise we waste money. I'll let you all know how that goes.

That's all I can think of as far as updates goes, but I'll try to have some pics to follow this post.

Summer Shows

The 23rd Army rock band playing a show at the Newgate mall

Tyler has done some shows this summer so I thought I post pictures from a couple of them.
The Beatle band show was really fun because both our families were able to go. I'll have to post the date on here the next time he has a show so everyone can come. Good times!!

Photo Booth Fun!

Tyler and I have spend countless hours messing around with the photo booth on our computer ever since Nikki and I discovered how much fun it is, so I thought I'd share a few pics from our time wasting activity. There are quite a few more distorted ones of both of us but I'll spare you from the most hideous ones. I'll have to put a few more up of Nikki and I later cause there are some pretty hilarious ones.

Bored thoughts

Tyler just left for and Army band gig out in Murray and I'm home bored as usual, so I thought I just write my thoughts for the day. I don't think I've ever really done a real blog entry before, it's mostly just pictures of happenings in our lives, so here goes my thoughts for the day.... Oh and I'll explain the picture later.

Tyler and I both worked at the Post Office today, and it was such a beautiful day. It might seem weird, but I really don't mind delivering mail when the weather is nice like today. The only thing I don't like about sorting the mail at the Post Office is that I have way too much time to just sit, actually stand, and think. Don't get me wrong pondering about life is good, but having a few hours a day to ponder just gets annoying. I think that is part of the reason why I have to take a nap almost everyday when I get home. My mind just needs a break.

Was anyone else disappointed with the season finale of The Office? I really need to have Jim and Pam get married... for my sanity. I don't think I can handle having them possibly split up in the next season. I kind of like the new character though they brought in to take Toby's place. Maybe Michael can get married and have a baby with the new character. Ha!

There are a family of birds living in our bathroom vent. I noticed chirping every time I went in there and I honestly thought I was going crazy, but finally Tyler told me he heard it too. Soon we figured out that there is a vent covering that is missing on the side of our townhome and they must have pushed their way through it and built a nest and had babies in there. Every time I accidently turn on the fan in there the image of baby birds being sucked up to their death flashes through my mind. Tyler's dad said they won't leave till the babies are ready to venture out and fly. I guess I'll have to deal with the chirping for another month.

I'm not sure what to do with my life as far as a career. Every time Tyler brings it up, I try to change the subject because I don't want to have to face possibly getting more schooling or starting a scary new job. I don't want to work at the Post Office forever. I didn't go to college for four and a half years to do that, but I guess I just hate the process of finding a new job or figuring out what I really want to do enough that I wouldn't mind just staying at the Post Office the rest of the Summer. I've narrowed down my list of possible career choices but again it makes me nervous. I'm not good with big decisions. Hate 'em!

There are a couple of new movies coming out that I'm excited to see. First off Indiana Jones looks good. I wish Harrison Ford was a bit younger for it but oh well. He's still pretty good looking. Tyler and I need to sit down and watch the first three before we go. Second, The Chronicles of Narnia looks pretty good and I think I remember Adam (my bro) telling me that he helped work on some of the graphics for the movie, so I want to see it for that reason too. Speaking of Adam, I don't know about anyone else in my family but I would love to see some pictures and actual entries on Adams blog. I know you have your new expensive camera and you're living in one of the most beautiful countries in the world, so come on Ad lets see some pictures!! In fact, I promise you (Adam if you read this) if you put one or two good entries with pictures on your blog, I will send you a package with your favorite food or candy that you can't get in New Zealand immediately! I got side tracked there back to movies coming out. I heard somewhere that they are planning on making "Arrested Development" the movie. For fans of the show including myself this is exciting news. If you never got into the show, go and buy or rent the first season on DVD and watch 3 or 4 episodes and trust me you'll be a fan. This is why I have the picture posted above.

I think that about wraps up my thoughts for the day, thanks for reading.

Temple Square

For Mothers day last weekend Tyler and I went to my parents' house in Centerville and enjoyed a nice dinner with my family and then afterwards we all went down to temple square and looked at all of the new Spring flowers that had just been planted. If you haven't been down there in the last few weeks, I highly recommend going. It was so beautiful!! We couldn't stop taking pictures of the flowers, except now I have a bunch of pictures of flowers on my camera, and they don't look as cool in the pictures as they did in real life. Oh well!

Anyway I thought I'd share some of my not as cool as in real life pictures because I love Spring and I know it's not going to last much longer. Oh and Happy belated Mothers day to all you mothers out there especially the ones I'm related to!

New Job!

Well, after a few nerve wracking interviews Tyler was offered a full-time guitar/general music position at Syracuse Jr. High! This is exactly what he went to school at Utah State to teach so he is really excited that he found such a sweet position. He'll start this fall, so he'll have the Summer to prepare his curriculum. Luckily the school is only about 3 or 4 miles west of our place right now, and with rising gas prices we're extremely grateful it's so close. Now we just need to find a job closer to home for me. I couldn't find a good picture of the school so I'll have to take one myself but here is an awesome picture of the school mascot. Go Seahawks!!

Jane Austen fun

Well Sunny had fun link on her blog for a quiz that tells you which Jane Austen heroine you would most like be, and mine along with hers was Elinor Dashwood. I was secretly hoping it would be Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice. (mostly because I want to look like Keira Knightly, but alas). Then Tyler and I found a quiz for him to take to determine which Jane Austen hero he would be, and funny enough he was Edward Ferrars, who for those of you who don't knowhe ends up with Elinor Dashwood in Sense and Sensibility, I hope I didn't ruin the ending for anyone. Speaking of loving Jane Austen stories, a couple days ago I bought Mansfield Park and Persuasion on DVD, so now I have them all on DVD except for one. I watched Mansfield Park today and surprisingly enough Tyler sat down and watched it with me. I think deep down he secretly likes them too. He'll probably make me delete that statement later when he reads it. The more I write in this entry the more I realize that I need to get out more. Pretty soon I'll be writing to tell you I adopted seven cats and I've gained ten more pounds. Yikes!

I am Elinor Dashwood!

Happy Easter!

Dying Easter eggs. One of my favorite traditions!
It looks like I'm missing a neck in this pic.

Ah hah! There's my neck

My favorite is the red one. Unfortunately it's
not my work. Tyler made it.
Isn't my little sister cute!

Tyler and I celebrated Easter at my parents house last Sunday, and we had a lot of fun. I'm kind of like a little kid with a lot of things and Easter is one of them. I still like to hunt for Easter treats and dye Easter eggs. Who says adults can't still participate? I had a picture posted of Tyler, me, and my brother and sister after our hunt outside, but I looked like I weighed 300 pounds, so it got deleted. Speaking of the hunt I have to mention that I found the most eggs. You may not all know this but I'm actually really competitive. Usually it's with things like board games, but that's because I'm kind of crappy at sports so it's difficult to be competitive with that. Anyway I'm getting of the subject of Easter. We had a lot of fun, and thanks again for dinner mom and dad. It's been awhile since Tyler's had a nice roast. I'm not much of a meat fan, or a cooking fan. Ha!

Madame Tussaud's Museum of Wax

Tyler's eyes are the perfect size to be a
blue man. I always think of Tobias from
Arrested Development when I see these guys.

Simon looked so real.

When you grab Matthew's biceps, he
gets a twinkle in his eye. Seriously.
He didn't look very real.

Tyler and Ali.

I had to post some of our favorite pics from our visit to the wax museum in Las Vegas. I have a bunch more but I'll send the pics of Zach and Amy to them so they can post them on their blog. I'll probably put a few more up because I could only post this many at one time.

More fun celebrity pics

Oh yes my bootie is bigger than Jennifer Lopez's

Tyler's guarding Shaq.
I don't think it is going to do much
good though.

Hugh Hefner and the girls next door.
